3 Reasons visitors will not come back to your blog

For many people it can be hard getting repeat visitors to your blog, leaving you with a lack of traffic and therefore thinking that all your hard work has gone to waste.  This can be very annoying and leave you not feeling very motivated to continue blogging. However the good news is that you are probably just making a simple mistake that can easily be corrected.

In this post i am going to explain three reasons why people are not going to come back to your blog and how you can easily correct these and build a successful community around your blog.

Your blog design it awful

A lot of blogs that I see on the internet have an awful design and I often skip these blogs just because the design is terrible and I cannot clearly see the text. How your blog looks and feels is more important than people often think and should not be neglected. I know that I seem to trust a blog more if it has a professional design and I know that the owners has spent time choosing a design that looks great and makes the content easily readable.

You need to have a think before choosing a blog design and if you are going to take blogging seriously then it is well worth investing in a professional design. If you are using WordPress then it is well worth investing in a premium them from ThemeForest. Even if your content is good then your visitors will not even get to your content if your design is awful.

When choosing a design try to choose something that stands out from other blogs and has all of the features you are going to need. Social media integration is key for a blog, as well as a responsive design for people viewing your blog from a mobile or tablet.

No-one is interested in your content

Content is key to your blog and this is the reason that people are going to be visiting your blog in the first place. There is no point in writing content that only you are going to read and this is where a lot of bloggers go wrong as they write content that people are not going to find useful.

You need to write content that is going to be entertaining and helpful. How To articles always go down well as you are providing visitors with the information that they are looking for and if your provide a good tutorial then they are probably going to come back and visit your blog again to see if you have any new content. Furthermore you content needs to be entertaining in places to keep your readers entertained. I like to split my articles into small sections to make it easier to read.

Your not social networking

Time and time again i see bloggers who are not social networking and think that they are going to build a successful blog. This is not going to happen. Social networking is key to any blogs success and the theory is simple. People like your blog, follow you on social networks and then you keep them up to date with your latest content. I personally drive most of my traffic from social networks and they are a great way to drive repeat traffic for free.

To get started with social networking i recommend signing up to Facebook and Twitter and then putting some social widgets and sharing buttons on your blog. My personal favourite is Twitter as it is easy to get followers and get people visiting your blog. Facebook can often be a lot harder.
