5 Tips to Make an Impact at Corporate Events

Expectations are growing for clients attending corporate events and tradeshows, and as these are key marketing events for any business, it’s essential that you’re making the impact you need to make it a meaningful and productive venture.

The decision as to whether they invest in your business lies heavily in the way that you create your presence at these shows.

Attendee’s expect to be wooed, after all it’s their decision as to whether they invest in your business with their time and money.

Everyone is vying for their attention and amongst the gaggle of businessmen in suits, how are you going to make them sit and listen to your jargon.

You need to be memorable and make an impression, and quit the sleazy sales pitch.

Once you’ve done the research to find the right event where you know your business is going to find relevant leads, it’s time to capture that audience and get them to engage with your company.

It’s not just about what you sell, but also who you are.

Clients and customers alike now more than ever expect clarity and honesty above all.

If they can’t relate to your company ethics, how will they trust enough in your business to invest in your product or service?

Invest in Space

One of the key factors when you take the marketing leap to exhibit at a trade show, is the space you’re going to occupy for the event.

You need to choose a space that has good footfall, and a steady stream of attendees, who can easily find you.

Discuss this with the exhibitor as they will have all the statistics on the hot spots for you to make a well estimated decision.

It may cost more than your average shell scheme, but put your money where your mouth is and the ROI will soon become obvious when you’ve got instant sign ups and a buzz happening around your stand.

Give them an Experience

To most trade show attendee’s all the stands look the same, and although they’re coming for a purpose of one kind or another, they need to be stimulated enough to want to visit your stand out of all the others that are lining the show.

Many businesses are seeing great success at creating themed stands and an exhibition experience which not only incorporates the location, but also works alongside the product or service that they are selling.

A great example of this new trend would be Agilysys who created a ‘Hollywood Premier’ campaign for their stand at one of the hospitality industry’s largest events.

As the event was held in LA they incorporated a movie trailer and red-carpet to their stand, and also marketed their presence cleverly with ‘premier ticket’ styled invitations and movie styled posters.

For them the event was a huge success as they had managed to engaged their audience and drive their biggest number of sales through their website.

Cater to their Needs

We’ve all been at a trade show, and I think we can all admit they’re long tiring events that don’t leave us feeling great afterwards.

So draw from this experience and offer attendees fuel to keep them going and stay a little longer on your stand.

Snacks and bottles of water always go down a storm with anyone attending a tradeshow, but take it a step further by branding your tasty produce so that if they decide to leave you, they’re promoting your brand around the show.

Put on a Show

Of course as well as having a theme to market your presence and design your stand with, incorporate some entertainment so you’re showing any potential clients that you’re serious about impressing them.

Having something different such as a celebrity magician like Oliver B who can help to attract attendees and make them talk about your business once the show is over, will help to secure a lasting impression and set you miles ahead of your competition.

Make it Interactive

Marketing your presence before a show is where so many businesses put their efforts, but in fact the marketing should continue even whilst you’re there.

Adding a photo booth and getting attendees to post on Twitter and Facebook about their time on your stand is the perfect way to get your business trending on social media and exposing it to other’s who may be interested in your service.

Ensure you detail a hashtag relevant to your business and apply this to all of your promotional material for the show.

As well as increasing your company’s brand presence it will boost your social following and website visits.

Combining all of these methods for your next trade show will be sure that your company makes an impact and that the money you’ve invested will be returned in quality leads and sales.
