Choosing Between New and Used Vehicles For Your Business

When starting a new business, vehicles often take a large proportion of your initial start-up costs but can from the infrastructure for your business. When choosing a new car, van or lorry for your business you often have to make the decision between buying new or buying a used vehicle and in this post I am going to share the advantages to both of these to help you make a decision between new and old.

Buying New

Buying a new business vehicle is often going to come at a larger expense than buying second-hand but that it is not always a bad thing. Firstly you will not have to worry about MOT on a new car or van for the first three years and if you have a lot of vehicles an annual MOT can often lead to high costs which can be even higher if there is a problem with the vehicle.

Another reason for buying brand new is to take advantage of finance options available. Business customers can often  take advantage of different finance options that are available to reduce the initial cost of buying the vehicle and paying monthly instead. buying new also allows you to choose the exact specification that you want your new vehicle to be and therefore you customise the vehicle to suit your business needs from a luxury interior to economic performance.

Buying Used

On the other hand there is the option to buy a used vehicle and this has become a growing trend in recent years as businesses look to save money on start-up costs. Buyingused vans from anchor vans and others now allow you to pay weekly for you vehicle which takes the pressure off your businesses finances at start-up and gives you more money to spend on growing your business.

Buying used vans and cars these days often allows you to gain large savings on buying new and you can often find a good deal if you shop around and a lot of vehicles will also come with one years warranty. If your business vehicle has an important practical use such as carrying tools around which could leave your vehicle untidy then buying used is usually the best way to go instead of spending all your time worrying about marking your new vehicle.

The biggest benefit from buying used is not worrying about the depreciation of your vehicle a few months after you brought it. This is often the biggest problem with buying new cars & vans and can mean that you lose a substantial amount of money when you come to sell them. Even buying a used vehicle that is under a year old can often mean huge saving and you can still take advantage of the manufacturers warranty.
