Exercising Entrepreneurs: how successful business people stay in shape

Running a highly successful, multi-national company is no mean feat. It takes dedication, focus, passion and a drive that will likely elude most people. The individuals who run these companies know their time is precious, and that every second needs to be invested wisely.

One of the things most of these high-flying business men and women share is their ability to recognise the importance that regular exercise plays in their continued success. They are certainly not alone in their convictions.

Dr John Ratey, Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, says: “Exercise is the single best thing you can do for your brain in terms of mood, memory and learning.”

To take a better look at just what these powerhouses of industry do to keep in shape, Funding Circle have put together the Exercising Entrepreneur infographic. Here, you will find information on the exercise regimes of 36 different entrepreneurs. Be prepared, some of their work out programmes beggar belief in terms of just how gruelling they are!

For example, did you know that Michael Corbat, CEO of Citigroup and a former Harvard footballer, does the Spartacus workout multiple times a week? This intense full body workout was apparently crafted by Men’s Health magazine to honour the incredibly popular TV show which bares the same name. By completing this workout, Corbat manages to burn roughly 4,200 calories per week.

If that wasn’t impressive enough, Anil Ambani – Chairman of ADAG – runs every single morning before work, and has come to be known as ‘Marathon Man’. His efforts see him get rid of a hugely impressive 8,500 calories every week!

Why not take a look at the Exercising Entrepreneur infographic for yourself? You never know, you might just find the inspiration you’ve been needing to help you keep in shape! Remember, regular exercise can go a long way to boosting your day to day productivity; so think of it as an investment in your business. If these highly successful individuals can make time for a work out in their busy schedules, so too can you!
