The right trade show

Choose the right trade show for your company and make sure you register early. The later you book the more expensive it may become. It’s advisable not to advertise your company in a place where you’re unlikely to draw attention because of a lack of interest from attendees in your businesses field. It’s important to make sure you carry out research of the best trade shows. Talk to industry professionals and other businesses in your field who have attended the events before and ask how the show affected their business. Was there an increase in sales afterwards that could be put down to attending the trade show? What could they have done differently if they were to attend again? Take the answers on board and consider them for yourself to make sure you get the full benefit of attending the show.

Attracting customers

You will need to make sure that your stand at the trade show is attracting the most amount of attention, and you’re standing out from your competitors, whether that be by using bright enticing banners with your company’s name and logo on, having a clear and easy to find location for your stand or giving away little things such as USB sticks, pens and other promotional products with your company’s branding.  Make sure to bring enough products for everyone who is attending the trade show and maybe a little extra in case people want more than one, remember it’s better to have too much than too little in this case, and make sure you’re organised and know where everything is, you don’t want to be faffing about trying to find your goodie bags when the busy time kicks off.  Besides not being organised is not a great first impression. Try to attract potential customers in by holding a competition especially if you have an exciting prize. Also, giving out sweets, chocolate and other tasty treats will definitely not go a miss when you’ve got tired and hungry leads. By doing these few things it will make your stand much more appealing and exciting to visit, drawing in customers who will then take an interest in your business.

Spread the word

Make sure people know you are at the show. Advertise yourself on social media sites such as twitter, Instagram and Facebook, email people and create newsletters for already established customers.

Let people know when you’re going to be attending, what you’re going to be doing and where exactly they are going to be able to find you.

If you’re creating and holding a competition make sure to advertise this along with all the other information, this will draw people in who want to take part and will want to come and find your stall to take part.

After attracting people to your stand you’re able to engage in conversation informing and educating them of more products and services your business provides. Ensure your team are equipped with the best knowledge and are aware of answers to commonly asked questions, smiling will create a friendly and welcoming feel to your stand which will encourage people to stop and have a chat about your business.
