How You Can Make People Want To Come And Stay In Your Bar

Running a bar is a competitive business. When it comes to list of things to do when out and about in any city or town in the world, there will be at least one bar or pub mentioned. Prestige is built off the work that goes into a venue. Those that have that prestige will be appearing on those lists and any list of recommendations in the foreseeable future. The rest of the places just have to rely on what locals they can. If you want to take your bar to the level that people will start recommending it, you have to do the following.

1)   Give your bar the right look

When you were opening the place, the chances are you did it because you had a certain aesthetic or mood in mind. Look at your environment. Does it fit what you thought that mood would be? If not, then you’re not going to be attracting the customers you want, either. Take care of the style of your bar. Make the décor choices, make the bar itself attractive and get the proper bar chairs you need.

2)   Fit a brand to your bar

That aesthetic goes even further than decorating and furnishings, however. What’s important about your bar’s attractiveness is how you brand. Find a brand that suits the location and the interior. Know how to hit the keywords of what customers are after, whether it’s class or comfort. Then take your branding and run with it until it’s synonymous with what you offer. If you want to run a tasteful wine bar, then you want your place synonymous with wine and sophisticated pleasure, for example. Social media is a great tool for spreading your brand, but it should be in every choice you make about the bar.

3)   Making sure your service is excellent

There are lots of people willing to do bar work. A lot of them think that it’s an easy job that they need no qualifications for. You should be disabusing any would-be employees of that notion. Don’t settle for anything less than excellent service. When hiring bar staff, find out how they would deal with a lot of different situations and make sure they’re the right fit.

4)   Measuring the success of your venue

Don’t be content to simply wonder how your bar is doing. Learn how to measure how successful or unsuccessful you are by following key points in your performance. Have these in mind and you’ll know how to communicate with your staff to improve or keep up to your standards. It allows you to make better choices based on how things have gone in the past, too, instead of taking blind shots at success.

5)   Be creative

When people go to a bar, it’s always a good idea to have something that will stick with them. It can be as simple as serving a wine or ale that most other places don’t and offering it. Making your very own drink recipes, depending on what kind of place you run, can give you a signature all your own. If it’s a hit, it can mean a lot more business, too.
