Use Your Business’s Time And Money More Wisely

If you run or manage a company and you’re aiming to do It well, then a more efficient use of your time and money is undoubtedly always on your mind. How much as you losing due to a poor system? How can you make everyone work better, not just more? To get the most out of your employees and your assets, consider these tips we’ve collected.

Fix your IT infrastructure

Too many companies are running with inefficient IT systems. The attitude that ‘it’s wonky, but it works for us’ doesn’t cut it. Poor systems slow you down, lead to error and the disastrous event of lost data. Using Cloud services like RedPixie backs up all your data and gives your workers better tools to manage the IT side of things. It also has the added benefit of saving you the physical costs of storage servers. Make your system faster and more reliable, not an obstacle.

Hone down that marketing strategy

Is your marketing strategy much like throwing darts at a board while blindfolded? You’re not alone there. Everyone is essentially hoping to hit lucky with their marketing. However, you can make your chances a lot better by learning from the successes of others. Direct copies will never work, but keep up to date with what tactics are proving the most profitable. Formulate a strategy and put your energy into working on that one instead of flitting from idea to idea.

Prioritise daily

The major tasks of the company will change from day to day. What might have been the hot-button issue will no doubt take a backseat to tomorrow’s. Set your priorities not just for yourself but for your workers. A great way to do this is to set up a chalkboard or whiteboard with the day’s tasks ranked in level of priority. It only takes a few minutes and gives everyone a synchronicity which gets those important jobs done first and faster.

Delegate better

Multitasking’s a handy skill, but doing it too much can slow you way down. How many days have you had where it feels like you’ve done nothing at all and everything all at once? Start delegating to your team and showing trust in their abilities. Be clear and precise in your instructions. Go back to the chalkboard/whiteboard and publically assign tasks. This will create a feeling of shared responsibility in the workplace.

Cut down on meetings

Meetings should be an asset to your business, not something you have to get out of the way. Split the meeting into phases of learning what everyone has done, what they’re doing today and what’s impeding their progress. Try using stand-up meetings to create a ‘huddle’ effect, as well as benefit of keeping things brief. Keep a live documentation of the discussion so you’re not stuck talking about nothing at all.

Everyone in their place

Sometimes, having everyone together working in the office isn’t the best solution at all. Get to know your employees and where they can be better put to use. There are benefits to having some working at home just as much as it’s good to have them in the office. Be willing to accommodate employees if they will honestly work better in a certain environment over another.
