Pinterest is a website where you can share images and text in what are known as pins. The designers of the site wanted to model the website around a corkboard. People may pin pictures and newspaper clippings onto the board, in the same way that people can share content on their pins. One of the great things about Pinterest is the fact that it can display a large number of images without any negative SEO affect. This means that the visual side of Pinterest is very strong, and therefore is very good for businesses to advertise on, and to build up their brands reputation. A person is able to visit a person’s Pinterest site whenever they like, whilst being safe in the knowledge that they have not missed much. This is not true of other social media such as Twitter, where missing a few posts may mean that a follower cannot understand the context or meaning of later posts.

Sharing content is a great way to show people the things you like, and pins are easy to share. If people share your pins then it gets your brand name out there, and may even have very positive SEO effects.

This is just a fact. Text rarely goes viral, where as image based items (which most pins are), are more likely to go viral.
