6 Simple Tips To Increase Facebook Likes, Comments And Shares

Nearly all businesses and blogs have a Facebook page but many of them do not have a lot of engagement on their Facebook page and therefore do not have a lot of Facebook Likes, comments and shares. We use Facebook for business because just Like other social networks, it is a great place to find new customers, interact with existing  customers and share your latest products and business news. The problem is that most people do not know what they need to do to improve their results on Facebook and small businesses do not have the budget to employ someone dedicated to managing their social media accounts and there is really no need.

Mento’s Uk Facebook page is a great example that I Like to use of a business making the best use of Facebook. With over 34,000 Likes and thousands of users talking about them, they have really maximized their exposure on Facebook and got great engagement with their fans.

When I first started this blog I found it hard to get going on Facebook and actually get any Likes on my Facebook page as I find it a lot harder to get more fans than using Twitter. I tried a lot of different ways to increase my Facebook fans and was not able to do this for several months after I kept following the same old useless information that is available on the internet and nearly considered paying to advertise on Facebook. However I kept on trying different techniques and eventually found out how to increase fans, comments and shares on any business page. A lot of these principles are similar to using Twitter and in this post  I am going to share them with you.

Make use of pictures and videos

When using Facebook we are far more attracted to looking at our friends photos and videos, that status updates when scrolling through  our news feed.  This is a tip that you can use with your business page and take full advantage of pictures and videos. No matter of what page uploads it, most of us are going to Like a visually appealing photo or entertaining video that we see and maybe even check out the user’s page to see other photos and videos.

I like to use photos and videos that relate to the business page that I am working with instead of using random images that do not relate to the business. Furthermore another useful tip is to take advantage of the description for the photo or video that you are posting as this can be a high exposure place to promote your page or business.

Integrate Facebook into your website

Integrating Facebook into your website allows your website visitors to see that you are using Facebook, see your latest posts and Like your Facebook page. Most small businesses tend to use a Facebook icon but not actually integrate Facebook into their website. By doing this, visitors are far less likely to visit your Facebook page as they see this icon on nearly every small business website that they visit these days and why should they click to your Facebook page.

However by actually integrating a Facebook Like box from the Facebook developers section into your blog you are far more likely to get visitors to interact with you on Facebook. I used a Like box for several months on this blog and dramatically increase my Facebook Likes. These days i still use one in the bottom right corner as I am happy with the amount of Facebook fans I  have (1.3k). If you are looking for fast results though from visitors to your website then it is worth putting a Facebook box in a more noticeable position such as your top sidebar.

Time your posts

The time at what you send your posts on Facebook is one of the most important factors to your success. If you send a post at a time when most people are sleeping then no-one is going to see it and it is going to be a waste of your time. The problem becomes worse when you are trying to target users in other countries and time zones as well and you need to gain maximum exposure by posting content that is going to be seen by as much people as possible.

I use Hootsuite which is a free tool that allows you to schedule your Facebook posts to be automatically sent at a time that you specify. Studies have found that you are going to get the most exposure and engagement from your posts by sending them early afternoon. For that reason I schedule most my posts to be sent early afternoon in the timezone of the audience that I am targeting but  I do also post at other times throughout the day.

Entertain your Fans

When we are scrolling through our time lines the last thing that we want to see is a load of promotional posts all the time advertising products that we are not interested in. The reason that a lot of people Like Facebook pages is to be entertained and therefore by creating entertaining posts, users are much more likely to Like your Facebook page to be entertained.

The aim is to get the balance between promotional posts and entertaining posts and pictures right so that you can increase Likes and comments but also find new customers and promote your products to them.

Give people a reason to Like your Facebook page

Sometimes you need to give people a reason to like your Facebook page if your Likes are not increasing as fast as you would like. One way to do this is to use a Facebook plugin that pops up on your website when users fist visit your website as it cannot be ignored. Another way to do this is to create a competition where users have to either be liking your page or leave a comment to be in with a chance of winning. By doing this you can easily increase the amount of Likes you have in a short amount of time but do remember that some users are going to unlike your page.

Network with influential people and businesses

If you want people to Like your page and share your content then you need to network with other Facebook users and do the same to them.Facebook is a network to engage with other users and you need to to this as well and not just wait for people to come to your Facebook business page. The best way to do this is to find big blogs and and influential people in your niche on Facebook and give them a Like and then come back and leave regular comments on their latest posts. This will also increase your exposure to all of their fans.
