5 Things To Do With Your Blog In 2013

With 2012 basically over everyone is looking forward to business and blogging in 2013. For me personally this year has been a good year for blogging and I am hoping that next year is going to even better. For your blog to survive in 2013 you are going to need to keep up to date with all the latest blogging information and search engine changes. So what are you going to do with your blog in 2013 ? it is a good idea to put together a plan of what you are going to do with your blog in the next year and have something to aim for. In this post I am going to share five things that I plan on doing with my blog in 2013 and you may just want to do the same.

Launch a product

You may not know it yet but your blog is the perfect place to launch your own product. You already have visitors and you have hopefully built up an audience and a following on social networks. These are both the perfect places to sell and market your own products. There are a range of different products that you can sell on your blog. eBooks and training courses are popular on blogs because they are targeted at your audience and provide content that they are interested in. However you could also sell WordPress plugins and themes, Web design, blogging advice , social media services or running a job board. All of these can easily be sold and promoted through your blog.

Once you have chosen the product that you want to sell you need to plan your product launch carefully. You will need to do your research to see what competition there is out there and see what sort of price similar products are selling at. After that you may want to network with other influential people online and see if they will help promote your product to their audience as you can easily increase your sales by doing this. Once you have done this you are going to need to get your store set-up. Your stall will need to be able to handle a lot of traffic and should be easily to use and take payments.

Blog growth by expanding into similar niches

Your blog is most likely concentrated around one specific niche such as photography. This is going to limit the content that you can publish and soon enough you are going to start running out of ideas of posts to publish. Furthermore this is also going to restrict your advertising opportunities to just a specific niche. however it is most likely that your audience is going to be interested in similar topics. For example if you are running a photography blog then your audience is most likely going to be interested in graphic design. By expanding like this you are going to increase visitors to your website, the amount of posts you can publish and potential advertising opportunities on your blog.

Keep up to date with search engines

Google is changing the way it ranks websites all of the time and it is important that you keep up to date with these if you want to get traffic from search engines which for a lot of people is often where most their traffic comes from. If you fail to keep up to date with how search engines rank your website then you could risk loosing a huge amount of traffic. It is always a good idea to work on your back-links to try to get as much links as possible coming into your website so you need to do this throughout 2013. However you want to make sure that you are building high quality links to your website by guest posting on other websites in your niche. It is worth keeping an eye on search engine optimization blogs such as SEOMOZ to keep up to date.

Become more active on social media

Being active on social media is important for all bloggers as social networks such as Twitter and Facebook are a great source of traffic for your posts.  Furthermore they are also the perfect place to network with others online and build up an online community around your blog. However hot many social networks are you actively promoting your blog on ? I know for me and most bloggers it is probably online Facebook and Twitter.

There are now a load of new social networks out there that can be used to drive traffic to your blog and you want to take advantage of these. Instagram and Pinterest are two upcoming social networks that will be a good place to promote your blog in 2013. As well as this LinkedIn and Google+ are also good places to promote your blog. You want to be active on as much social networks as possible to drive the most traffic to your blog.

Find new ways to monetize your blog

For years bloggers have relied on advertisement placements as a key revenue source. However these are slowly becoming a less popular choice for businesses as they are finding new ways to promote their products. This is where you need to keep up to date if you want to carry on making money blogging in 2013. Video advertising is becoming more popular so you may want to find a way to incorporate video advertising into your blog without annoying your readers such as offer a piece of premium content for users that watch a video advertisement.

However video advertising is not the only thing you need to look into. There are a load of different ways to make money with your blog such as charging for sponsored posts and offering a premium section. It is worth spending time exploring different ways to make money online with your blog.

Bonus: Start a new blog

Instead of being dependent on one blog why not launch your second blog online. By doing this you can maximize your exposure online by appearing to a new audience, Maximize your income by providing more products and advertisement places and network with more people. It is going to take some planning to launch your next blog and you are going to need to dedicate a lot of time to it at first but it will hopefully be worth it long-term.
