How you can turn your blog into a business

Blogging in 2017 is a business. It’s no longer just about spilling your innermost thoughts out online. Whether you’re a lifestyle, fashion, beauty, travel, food or tech blogger monetising your blog is easy and for many, is now a fulltime job. So how can you turn a blog into a business?

Know Your SEO

Knowing what goes on behind the scenes of your blog is crucial if you want to make it big. Knowing how to improve your SEO from utilising tags and keywords to ensuring the content on your pages is in sync will ensure that you move up the search results and people find your site. If you aren’t very tech savvy then agencies such as Click Consult have various handy guides and material that can help turn you into an SEO whizz kid.

Get Your Voice Heard On Social

It’s all very well having a great blog with great SEO but that’s no use if nobody knows it exists. Set up social media accounts specifically for your blog. Follow similar accounts and interact with your audience demographic. Promoting your posts on sites such as Twitter and Instagram with clickable links will help to increase your traffic, just don’t over-promo yourself so that you look spammy. No one likes a spammer.

Build Relationships

Building relationships with other bloggers is important but even more so is building relationships with PR’s. After all, these are the people who will pay you. Introduce yourself to PR’s and Outreach Execs at companies and brands you would be interested in working with. Put together a ‘media pack’ full of your key stats; think of this as a CV for your blog. You may have to take on some free work at the start but producing high-quality content will ensure people come back to you for paid opportunities.

Don’t Forget Your Audience

When writing your content make sure you don’t forget about your readers and your niche. Remember why you started blogging in the first place and stick to what you know and love. If you’re passionate about what you write about then the money will soon roll in!
