Marketing In The Real World Still Works! The Offline Strategies You Should Be Using

It seems every business on the planet has their sights set exclusively on online marketing. It’s the new holy grail of business. Social media, content creation, and online PR has replaced the industries of old. Print media, radio adverts, and offline marketing are slowly dying.

Or are they?

Companies are turning to the internet is vast swathes. But, that doesn’t mean the real-world is any less important. Your customers and clients still exist in both worlds! It’s easy to get caught up in the newest techniques, but don’t forget about offline tactics. Trust us, they still work. So, while everyone else is tinkering away with email campaigns and Facebook updates, let’s look at the real world for a minute.

Business cards – Business cards are still the most effective way of making new client contacts. We’ve recently attended events where people have simply said ‘oh, you can find me on Twitter’. Unfortunately, that just doesn’t have the same impact as a physical business card. We can’t even remember the name of that particular person. You need something real and tangible to give to potential leads and clients.

Billboards – You might be surprised to learn that billboards and outdoor advertising still work wonders. After all, branding is all about perception. The more often a customer sees your branding, the more they trust it. Billboards are often expensive, so there’s another solution we recommend highly. Instead of a traditional billboard, use hoarding panels to display your next big campaign. These are the panels that surround new building developments, or mask temporary work sites. They’re always present in city centres, and you get a lot more for your money.

Events – No amount of online marketing will replace the power of meeting people in real life. Nothing compares to the personal connections you make with customers and clients. And what better way to meet people than at an event? Use your imagination, and host an event that attracts the very best in your industry. Invite the media and prospective clients. There’s no better way to put your business on the cultural map.

Flyers – Nowadays, we tend to associate flyers with junk mail that pours through our letterboxes. However, there is a time and a place for flyers and brochures. But, only if you get the placement right. Hunt out the best areas to distribute your fliers. If you own a healthy eating website or product, post flyers at your local gym. Distributing randomly around town will be a waste of time. But, target your audience, and you’ll see excellent results.

Trade publications – Print media is certainly struggling against the tide of online content and journalism. However, one area that is alive and well is the trade publication sector. These are the highly specific magazines related to a certain industry or niche. They are read by everyone-who’s-anyone in the industry. Advertising in these publications is the best way to boost your brand and reputation to the people that matter.

The world of online marketing is powerful. Just don’t forget about the real world!
