Why you need music at your product or service launch

Product and service launches are carefully curated events. From the special invite list of local press and writers, to the location, time and catering. There are lots of important factors to not only make sure your launch is as seamless as possible, but also that it has a wow factor.

Music is a well used tool for advertising. Whether it’s in TV adverts, online videos or in stores, a carefully (or not so carefully in some cases) chosen soundtrack is used to create atmosphere and interest.

Have you ever been to an event without music?

An event without music is like a cake without icing, sure you can still enjoy it but why would you leave it incomplete? Live music fills in the gap between natural talking from guests and silence.

When your product or service launch event first starts you may only have a few guests in attendance. Not having any music, or too low volume music, might encourage guests to whisper or feel awkward. Avoid this with music that covers regular speech volumes but doesn’t blare.

An easy way to both entertain your guests and provide music is to hire a live band or singer from an agency such as Mango Music. Musicians can be booked for an evening set, meaning you can see a playlist ahead of time.

Entertainment agencies, like Mango Music, have dedicated artist pages, letting you watch videos or hear what your band or singer will sound like before hiring them.

Good music means better reviews and more attendees

Product and service launches are all about getting your name out to as many as possible. Invited journalists, local businesses and reviewers need to be shown a good time and there are numerous ways to do this.

Goodie bags, drinks and free canapes all add to the launch experience. Creating a welcoming event will encourage favourable reviews and the all important word of mouth advertising if they tell friends and family about your product.

Choose slower music to encourage browsing and purchases

If the goals of your product or service launch is to make sales, or even get sign ups, research in the Journal of Consumer Marketing may help you make the most revenue. According to E. Spangenburg and R.Yalch a store music study ‘reported a 38 percent increase in sales when the store played slow music compared to fast music’.

Select a live band with a contemporary, upbeat yet not fast paced set to encourage attendees to browse your products, read about your services or simply spend more at your event. The key is creating that enticing and enjoyable atmosphere that will encourage positive memories and interactions.
